Note to New Hosts

Important Information for Vegvisits Hosts

First off, thank you so much for hosting on Vegvisits! We wouldn’t be here without you, and truly appreciate you opening up your home to travelers in the veg community.

There are just a few things you should know (and do) to make sure you have an awesome experience.

1) Pictures of your listing

Make sure they’re good ones! This is the #1 most important part of your listing. Poor quality, or too few of them, will almost guarantee that your listing will get very little attention. Also, be sure one of your photos includes the room where your guests will sleep.

2) Multiple rooms

(skip if you are not renting out more than one room)

If you are listing multiple rooms with different prices, please create a listing for each room so guests know when they book through Vegvisits exactly what they are getting. Also, make sure you set the number of guests you can accommodate to the maximum number you can hold if someone were to book all of your Vegvisits listings at once. This way, your listings will still come up when guests search for accommodations for large groups. Be sure to copy and paste the links to your other Vegvisits listings in the description to make it easy for guests to book more than one room.

3) What to expect

All Vegvisits hosts have to approve a booking before it can be completed by a guest.

When a guest is interested in booking your listing, they will either send a Booking Request or Booking Inquiry. When they send you a Booking Request, you have 24 hours to respond, and can either Approve or Decline the trip. If a Booking Inquiry is sent instead, the guest will put the tentative trip dates in a message. If the dates work for you, you can click the Invite to Book button at the top of the conversation so your guest can finish the booking.

For both Booking Requests and Booking Inquiries, if the dates of your guest's trip were changed based on your availability, ask the guest to send you a new Booking Request through your listing page. Once you approve the trip with the adjusted dates, the correct price will appear and your guest can finish the booking.

4) Notifications

When you get booking requests, booking inquiries, new messages, and other activity on your account, we’ll send you an email notification about it. Since you have to Approve every booking made through Vegvisits, it’s important to make sure that our email (team@vegvisits.com) is added to your contacts or marked as mail that should go to your primary inbox. To do this, please see the below links depending on your email service provider:

You can also have SMS notifications sent to you when you get a new booking request or inquiry by verifying your number in your user profile.

5) User Profile

If you haven’t already, please add a picture to your user profile. Just seeing a face makes guests feel more comfortable booking with someone they haven’t met yet. Including some information about yourself here would be good too!

6) Add Your Payout Method

On the day of guest checkout, we’ll send you your payout. To add your preferred payout method, click here.

7) Import your Airbnb Reviews & Sync your Calendar

To all our hosts that also list on Airbnb, you can follow these steps to sync your calendar. You can also import your Airbnb reviews by going to your Listings Management Page, clicking the Edit Listing button, and tapping the link that says Import Airbnb Reviews.

8) Set your Price Low

At first, it’s a smart idea to set your price low, then raise it once you get a few good reviews. Listings with reviews show up first on Vegvisits and also tend to get more attention.

9) Share your Listing

Help us spread the word about the community, while also bringing people to your listing by sharing your listing on social media. To do this, just go to your listing page and copy and paste the url on top, or you can click the Share button on the top right.
