Community Guidelines

Individually we are a drop. Yet, what is an ocean but a multitude of drops?

The Vegvisits community is all of us. We're defined by the experiences and interactions the platform helps to create. It's our actions, both as hosts and guests, and the connections that are formed, that makes us what we are today.

Vegvisits Promise

Vegvisits is a 100% meat-free platform.

Guests: When you book a vegan accommodation through Vegvisits, you make a promise not to bring any animal products inside the space. Similarly, if you book a vegetarian listing, you cannot bring any animal meat (both from land and sea) inside.

Hosts: All of our listings must either have a vegan kitchen or vegetarian kitchen. Please do not list your space on Vegvisits if:

1) You have a roommate or family member who eats meat and uses the kitchen to cook or store food.

2) You are a host on other platforms such as VRBO or Airbnb, and are not able to strictly enforce a no-meat policy.

The Golden Rule

Treat others the way you would like to be treated. Simple, but it works.

Share Your Schedule

It’s always a good idea to share schedules before arrival, so hosts/guests knows how much interaction to expect with you. You might be very busy on one trip, while having more time to hang out on another. Just let them know and it’s all good.

Leave It Better Than You Found It

Be appreciative of hosts opening up their home to you, and pick up after yourself. Clean the kitchen and wash dirty dishes when you’re done eating, and make sure there’s no trash hanging around your room. The small effort to leave the space looking nice when you depart makes a huge difference for hosts!

Keep Your Unique Flair

Vegvisits is not Airbnb. We don’t micromanage our hosts or expect them to act like mini hotels. We love the unique character of each of our listings. The diversity of our hosts gives the Vegvisits community life and color, and it is this personal flair that makes the home-sharing experience so much better than staying in a cold, isolating hotel room. Every experience is different, planned out with much love, care and thoughtfulness from the host - and that’s exciting!

Consider Offsetting Your Carbon Footprint

Eating a plant-based diet is one of the best ways to tread lightly on the environment. It is estimated that on average a vegan saves 1,100 gallons of water, 45 pounds of grain, 30 sq ft of forest, 20 lbs C02 and the life of one animal per day.

Below are the steps to calculate the number of days it would take for you to completely offset your trip’s C02 emissions by eating vegan!

1) Calculate you trip's CO2 emission amount here.

2) Divide by .009 tons, the average amount of C02 saved by eating vegan per day.

3) The total is the number of days of eating vegan to counterbalance your trip.

If the number seems overwhelming, you could always just try it out on your trip too! If your host is vegan, they may be able to share some insights, tips and recipes!
